BURN BAN IN EFFECT
From: Dan Wallis, Louisiana State Fire Marshal
Our state's fire service is exhausted with response to illegal burn piles, many of which are growing to damaging wildfires. Today, the state is under a Red Flag Warning due to winds associated with weather activity in the Gulf that is elevating the fire danger level to one that is detrimental to our firefighters. None of this even takes into account the scorching temperatures we're all facing. The biggest struggle we are finding is that people don't know about the burn ban and don't seem to quite grasp the dangerously dry conditions in all of our communities that would make most folks think naturally that it may not be a good idea to burn their trash and/or debris.
NEWS & INFORMATION
Due to the extreme weather we are experiencing, residential garbage collection services will begin at 4:30 am on Monday, August 21 for your regularly scheduled day of pickup.
